On October 4-5, 2019, the III Forum on International Investment Law and Arbitration, organized by Saint Petersburg State University in cooperation with the International and Comparative Law Research Center, was held. The Russian Arbitration Center at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration and Petrol Chilikov supported the Forum as partners.
The first part of the Forum embraced a scientific conference involving speakers that specialize in investment arbitration and intellectual property from Russia, France, UK, Austria, the Netherlands, and Miami. On the next day, the pre-moot of the FDI International Arbitration Moot was held.
This year’s conference and pre-moot were linked by a common topic – application of investment law rules to protection of investment in new technology, and reform of the investor-government dispute settlement system currently discussed by UNCITRAL (UN Commission on International Trade Law) Working Group III.
Egor Chilikov moderated the panel that discussed challenges in finding a balance between the interests of investors, governments and society in investment disputes, and judged the final rounds of the FDI Moot.
